The History of Japanese Americans

Rakushi poured his heart and soul for 13-years to paint 1069-frame, 34-volume, 610-meter (approximately 2,000 feet) long picture scroll, allegedly the world's longest, depictig the history of Japanese Americans beginning with the first immigration to Hawaii.

Scenes spanning from the 13th century Japanese drifters around Hawaiian Islands, departure of the first ship carrying Japanese immigrant to Hawaii in mid-19th century, through wars of 20th century to the return of Hokulea, a Hawaiian voyage canoe, to the port of Yokohama. The scroll contains approximately 120,000 people. See sample scenes here.
